Dr. Naomi Shields is a fellowship trained and board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery and sports medicine. She treats ankle fractures, bunions, hammer toe, sports knee injuries, and other foot & ankle conditions.
 
Dr. Shields joined AOA after serving as an orthopaedic surgeon in the US Air Force. Originally from New England, she obtained her medical degree at Albany Medical College, residency at Albany Medical Center, and fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She was the first surgeon in Kansas to perform total ankle joint replacement surgery.
 
Dr. Shields enjoys traveling and teaching the latest techniques in orthopedics. She serves as a medical volunteer for many organizations. Dr. Shields has visited Vietnam over 20 times with the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) and regularly leads medical relief teams to Haiti. Dr. Shields has presented at medical symposia nationally and internationally including Australia, Bolivia, Egypt and Germany. At home or around the world, she enjoys diving, skiing, tennis and photography.
